4 Signs a Small Lap Pool Is Right for Your Gym

If you own a small gym, an endless pool, a small pool that uses waves to allow someone to essentially swim laps in place, may be a great addition to your facility. Wondering if it's the right investment for you? Here are a few signs that it is:

1. You want the benefits of a pool without losing a lot of space.

If your gym is in a place where real estate is at a premium and you only have a small amount of space to devote to something new, an endless lap pool may be the right answer. It allows you to offer your clients something novel, without forcing you to devote a giant space to a full-size pool.

2. Your clients want a pool.

Before devoting money to adding a lap pool or any other equipment, consider polling your clients to see what features they want. So that it doesn't seem like a vote which may make those who don't get their way upset, just create a basic questionnaire. Ask which services your clients like and what they want to see more of; also, have them rank their desire for new equipment including a lap pool.

3. You have multiple ways to use a small pool.

If you invest in an endless pool, you don't just have to use it for swimming laps. You can also turn off the current and use the pool for other purposes. It works well for runners, tennis players, footballers and others who want a workout with a bit of resistance. Water is a great place to hone lateral movements, kicks and strength in general.

In addition, you can also turn up the heat and use it for therapeutic aerobics for clients with arthritis. In particular, if you have any physical therapists who use your space to help their clients with their workouts, you may want to offer a pool like these to those clients.

4. Your competitors have endless wave pools.

If your competitors offer lap swimming, either in an endless wave pool or a full size lap pool, you may want to invest in a pool just to stay competitive. If you are competing with other gyms that have full-size pools, to sell the idea of your small pool, focus on elements such as privacy or making it easier to work with a trainer by your side.
